By Extension: Woodstock Suite
By Extension: Woodstock Suite is a pop-up show I installed at the Glasco Turnpike house at the Center for Photography at Woodstock in Woodstock, NY. The show was the first installation at the Center created by an artist-in-residence that was open for the public.
This site-specific installation was an extension of my Self-Portraits series, which I started in 2010. It includes self-portraits and landscape images that I took with a 4x5 large format camera during my three-week stay as an artist in residence at CPW. It also included objects that I collected from various sites throughout Hudson Valley, contact prints, and journal entries that documented my process for creating this particular body of work.
By including work that does not always contain a corporeal element, I hope to expand the meaning of what a self-portrait looks and feels like and show how text, ephemera and landscape photography can commingle to create a sense of self and identity.
